CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT

BLACKLIST STUDIO

Check out this space!

Sydney based graphic-design studio - blacklist, was founded by Nathan and Jaynie Johnson in 2008 and has absolutely flourished since then!

Working with big time labels like One Teaspoon and Somedays Lovin', Quicksilver, Hurley and Globe.. Waves mag and Snowboarding mag just to name a few. (and i mean, JUST A FEW!) They've also done a lot of campaign work promoting Surf, Dive 'n' Ski.

The duo have worked with Universal Music putting their talent to work for the likes of Hillsong, Newsong, Lakyn (The Voice Aus. runner up) and the more recent works of Matt Corby, designing album cover and poster for his upcoming Australian tour  to support the release of his new album, resolution.

Above all though, my favourite line of work is their surf-inspired homewares, which are available for purchase in their online store! <3 this includes items such as art prints, wall-flags, cushions, towels, linen-art and totes.

Check out their latest print which is a collaboration between blacklist and illustrator, Kelly Smith (birdyandme.com.au).. It is hand signed by both artists and numbered, as with all their art, there are only 100 released. (get in quick!)
It is a beautiful fashion-inspired illustration, gold foil stamped with blacklist's iconic typography. eloquently named daydream believer... just beautiful.

A piece i must admit, i am cut to have missed out on is the surf canvas.. i had my eye on it for a while, but here is an image to give you an idea of the iconic blacklist style.

Yep, she's sold unfortunately, but isn't she grand?!
Not to worry though, there are plenty of other items to feast my eyes on, such as these:

This last one you may remember from a room in Real Living magazine...

So i think i'll finish here, but honestly, they really are worth a look if you somehow haven't already heard of this line. I think they are iconic, Australian, on-trend masterpieces, which are bound to wow your guests. I believe that this company truly will be remembered through the history of Australian Art.
