♡ TREASURE TROVE ♡

I can bet my bottom dollar that you've heard of Emily Ziz Style Studio, but have you actually had a wander over to the online textiles store to see what it's all about?

Well, the release of her new SHIBORI WALLPAPER is what led me over, and I'm glad it did!

When I arrived and explored a little, I found there is much more than just incredible wall coverings offered on this site!

To begin I found interest in hand-felted merino-wool creations by a lady named Ronel Jordaan.
I love the way she mimics nature to a tee. Just look at the detail in these pebbles! They are made without stitching, so are one piece, not several pieces stitched together. She also adapts sustainable, fair trade methods from the materials to the staff.

I also admired the nests and these sheep sculptures. I think they would fit in perfectly with the Scandinavian vision i have for my home! And the sheep can be used as floor lamps to!

This bed has been styled nicely using the combination of cut out and patterned throws, pebble garland and floor-mat, floral sham, and the big ripple seat. I ADORE! Ν

But back to the wallpaper! As i mentioned previously, it was the release of the SHIBORI that took my heart! Here are a few examples of ways you could make use of this gorgeous textile in your own home :

Also, here are few more that caught my eye!

Watercolour. While similar to the Shibori, shines in it's own right.

This concrete wall covering doesn't only have to be used in industrial themes! Notice it gives depth in this crisp white setting -

I think a strip of this wood log wallpaper would look amazing in a Scandinavian style apartment near a fireplace, for those that didn't have access to ACTUAL wood logs.

For a pop of colour, i thought these Bonnie & Neil wall tiles would do the job! Made of wood i believe? Just TRY and frown around this gorgeous burnt orange design..

So, hop to it! Check out this little treasure trove at http://www.emilyziz.com/>Emily Ziz Style Studio

HELLO MELBOURNE

WEST ELM GRAND OPENING ♡

To celebrate the opening of Australia's second dose of West Elm, this time in Melbourne, I thought I might dedicate a post to it.

Boasting an amazing range of luxuriously gorgeous home-wares and furnishings, and not to forget that AMAZING living wall by GSky, this is one shop you can't afford to walk past.. after all, everyone needs to splurge a little sometimes, right? ♡

Now unfortunately, being a broke ass waitress/ student in little Adelaide... I haven't yet had the opportunity to experience first hand, the wonderful magic that is west elm. BUT, that hasn't stopped me from doing a little online stalking! So I present to you..

An easy way to spend $500 in this home decorating kingdom!

Love the minimalistic look of this range. The font reminds me of 'Where the Wild Things Are', which let's face it, is a great childhood memory for most!
Now the mortar and pestle, and also the measuring jug aren't available in the Australian online store - these can be found on the American one.

A scandinavian style tea party anybody?

Not only is this range have absolute wow factor... its on sale! ♡
(love the deep navy/ inky colour)

Can't go past a comforting, fluffy, Mongolian sheepskin cushion for those cuddly nights in!

The images below bring the budget over $500, but I'd still like to feature them as they're pretty great!

I've actually had my eye on this set for a while now (as perhaps have you?) Unfortunately when I tried to hunt it down, it's again, only available on the American website :( Big thumbs down there.
But they absolutely still deserve a mention here!

If you're going for that coastal feel in your home, then don't look past this linen. cute + sailor.
I could get naughty-cal in these sheets! - get it.. heh.

Well there you have it, as if you didn't need further encouragement to check out this goldmine!
And if you're down in Melbourne - well, you're a lucky little chicken then!

xx

GEEK SPECS ♡

THE NEW IPHONE IS HERE!!

I am sure everybody has heard by now, but i thought i'd do a mini post anyways to share my own excitement! Now, i have to say the iPhone 5C is kind of cool, pretty colours and everything, but not too appealing to me. It's the champagne or gold 5S that has my eye! i had previously seen some RIDICULOUSLY expensive custom gold iPhone 5 (the previous model) pics floating around tumblr, and this new release reminds me of that, at a much more affordable price.

One of the most exciting things? The new fingerprint scanner! It recognises you and only you, so your device becomes useless to any pesky thieves! And how spy-like is it? Haha! it reminds me of futuristic movies.. so i guess you could say the future is well and truly here!

This feature can be used for unlocking your phone, and also to make purchases, eliminating the need for time consuming passwords!

I do understand the skepticism linked to this though. What if it doesn't read my print properly? Will i still be able to get it fixed cheaply and quickly if it breaks? What if it malfunctions and i cant enter my phone? - It has all crossed my mind, but to be honest, i think that a company of such high status would surely have put A LOT of research and refining into this feature, so I'm not entirely worried.

Now, i wasn't too big a fan of the normal iPhone 5, for it's flimsiness, so i do hope that this model will be an improvement, and not just grabbing my attention for it's swanky new looks.

But the looks are certainly gorgeous! Even the interface has had a makeover! I think that will be refreshing. The camera is also said to have big improvements, incorporating the filters and square photo options we all know and love from instagram and other photography apps. It also has panoramic mode which is good for me as i live on the coast! There are of course other improvements, but we'll leave that to the techy people!

With this model Apple have also taken it upon themselves to release their own line of cases especially for these 2 new models. The 5S cases are keeping in with the luxurious theme using soft leather on the outside and microfiber for the lining. I'm not entirely sure how they'll hold up against the outside world that your 'life in palm' device stands against each day, but we'll see :)

So September 20 is the day we'll see this little baby released. I think i'll be waiting for mine though. I expect the stores and phone lines to be a little cray cray that day! haha.

I think in this modern world of ever evolving technology and materialism we must remember this now and again.

Home Beautiful Oct '13

Every month I look forward to my favourite indulgences - home design magazines. If you love decorating, then you know the feeling of gasping in delight at every turn of the page. The kind of excitement that makes your partner wander what the heck is causing you to make those weird ooh, ahh noises over there, snuggled up in your comfy little corner! ...Don't worry though, nothing suss going on here. It's just a design thing. This post is on Home Beautiful's October '13 issue which I picked up today.

Inside the Home Beautiful October Issue 2013

One of their better issues In my opinion, they feature a very lust worthy section on spaces awash in pastel hues. Now, this has been done many a time before, but we certainly haven't had our fix yet. Some great products featured here, majority of them being new labels or designs for me, which is always refreshing!

This issue also introduces a new app. Now I am a SUCKER for a good app! This one is netpage. I think the concept is great, and I do believe it will progress to include a wider range as more attention is called to it. It enables you to scan pages, and buy items displayed on said page by directing you to the product's webstore. You are also able to save favourite pages for later, which in the future, may eradicate the destruction of treasured magazines. (Oh how bittersweet it is cutting them up!) It, like all other apps these days, is linked with all the social stuff so sharing isn't an issue here. The downfall though, is that only a bare minimum of pages were linked to the app! Like i said, great concept, but for now I would have liked it to be linked to more products!

I think the real homes featured in this issue didn't wow me all that much, bar a few pages, and the street spotlight wasn't too enticing, but I definitely have some new online retailers to add to the ever expanding list!

Another great section was the 'LITTLE WONDER'S' - a segment that delves into small bathrooms (like my own!) and how to make the most of tight spaces. There are some great space saving tips in there that'll make you wonder why you didn't think of that yourself!

Inside the Home Beautiful October Issue 2013

I have indeed saved my favourite part of the magazine for last. And it is SUCH good news..

KEVIN MCLOUD OF GRAND DESIGNS IS COMING TO AUS!!!
So... Planning a Melbourne trip is now on the agenda. (No one ever graces Adelaide.. Not ever..) not to worry, this event is going to be a winner! After missing the lifeinstyle show that left me a little sourpuss for a few days, I am pumped again to make it to this one.

It will feature 4 zones, building, interiors, bathrooms and kitchens and outdoors. It is based around an Eco approach to living and a green footprint. This means lots of cool new designs and gadgets, hopefully some gorgeous scandi styled spaces, and guest celebrities such as Kevin himself!

I've been tuning into grand designs UK for the past year and a half now, and I am captivated. It's very exciting to see everyday peoples dreams be put into practice and made a reality. After just having discovered that the Grand Designs Australia magazine I've been eyeing off recently, is actually Australia's version of the same thing, it wont be long until I'm hooked on that as well!

And for $30 a ticket, this is one not to be missed! On ya' Kevin ya bloody guru!

So a great jam packed issue, with a little something for all tastes. I already can't wait for next months! Good job HB!

Hot tip: speaking of taste, pick up your copy from Woolworths to score a free mini entertaining recipe book, with some great styling advice and devilishly decadent meals to wow when you host your next occasion!
